Employee Benefits
Direct Deposit
KIS offers the convenience of payroll direct deposit. This service is
available throughout the Hampton Roads area, and ensures funds will be
deposited before 2:00 pm on payday.
Employee Discounts
Products, which KIS regularly keeps in stock, may be purchased at
substantial discounts for n employee’s personal use.
E-mail
Communication is a basic building block of any business. Every KIS employee
is provided with an internal e-mail address.
Insurance Benefits
Employees become eligible for these benefits on the first day of the first
month after the date of hire.
Medical Insurance
KIS pays 100% of the Low HMO single rate premium toward the employee’s
medical insurance premium. All medical benefits paid by the employee quality
to be deducted under our cafeteria plan. Deductions under the plan are
exempt from federal and state income and social security taxes, providing a
big savings. KIS offers a choice of three group medical plans through our
current provider.
Dental Insurance
Dental insurance through Delta Insurance is available at the employee’s
cost with very comprehensive coverage. The dental plan is included in the
KIS Cafeteria Plan, making the plan more affordable for our employees.
Flex Plan
KIS offers a Flexible Spending Account option which allows employees to
elect to set aside a portion of their income on a pre-tax basis for the
purpose of receiving reimbursements for eligible medical or dependent care
expenses.
Life Insurance
KIS pays the entire premium for the life insurance coverage up to 1.5 times
the employee’s salary. This is also an accidental death and disability
policy. Employees have the option of purchasing increased coverage.
Short Term Disability
KIS pays the entire premium for the Short Term Disability coverage.
Other Benefits
401K Savings Plan
A retirement savings program is available to KIS employees, with quarterly
enrollment opportunities. The plan’s assets ae invested by an Investment
Advisor, as directed by the employee, and can be deducted as straight dollar
amounts or in percentage amounts of the employee’s pay. KIS will provide a
dollar for dollar match of the employee contributions, up to 3% of the
employee’s salary. Employee contributions to the 401(k) plan accrue earnings
free from current federal and state income tax. The plan meets all
requirements of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
Paid Time Off
All employees are awarded 120 hours (15 days) of paid time off (PTO)
annually on the first of the calendar year. For Employees who begin
employment during the year, the number of PTO days available will be
prorated for the remainder of the year. These hours do not accrue and are
available to the employee immediately.
